Steinberg’s live multitrack recording software, Nuendo Live 2, is officially, er, live. Version 2 includes quite the multitude of new features, such as automated background processes, high-visibility monitoring, a pre-record buffer, and post-production compatibility with Nuendo.
The new version adds a new Meter View that lets you oversee all recording levels over your entire screen – up to 160 meters can be displayed at once. The Track View feature now displays the meter bridge at the screen’s bottom, at up to 64 tracks. If more channels are required, the meter or track count can be divided into banks accessed by mouse click or key command.
Recording management has been improved with automatically generated project folder structure and unrestricted file numbering – that is, when audio is recorded and saved to different folders, the chronology remains intact. Adding further value, Nuendo Live 2 fully integrates with the Yamaha CL and QL digital mixing consoles, letting you control the software from the mixer’s touchscreen.
Overall, a solid update to what’s a tried and true live recording system. Steinberg put in the work so it may be time for some of you to upgrade! Speaking of which…
