[01 May 2025At NAMM 2025, Soundtoys presented SpaceBlender, another truly innovative reverb plugin that goes far beyond classic reverb effects. Instead of relying on typical reverb algorithms, SpaceBlender allows you to create entirely new, imaginary soundscapes. Inspired by the experimental tape looping techniques of ambient pioneers, SpaceBlender offers organic and vivid textures that dynamically evolve and creatively enrich music productions. It is now officially available – and for a limited time even free!

New Soundtoys Plugin Brings Unusual Reverb Effects to Your Studio

The central element of SpaceBlender is a unique spectral processing that not only expands sounds spatially, but also changes their timbre and amplitude shape. The interactive visualizer, which resembles a sonar display, allows you to control the behavior of the effect with great precision. The X-axis of the cursor lets you adjust the envelope, while the Y-axis controls the intensity of the effect. This is really fun because you can hear the reverb shaping live. Your sounds move through a defined time window ranging from 100 milliseconds to a full minute.

A special feature of SpaceBlender is the Warp function, which influences the pitch and speed of the sounds by changing the time parameters, similar to a classic tape echo. The Color knob provides a continuous change in tone character from bright to dark, creating a lively sound evolution over time. The Texture knob controls the density and diffusion of the sound, from sharp, individual delay taps to soft, expansive textures.

Create Soundscapes That Don’t Exist

SpaceBlender also includes deep modulation for chorus-like effects, whose intensity can be easily adjusted with the Mod knob. Soundtoys has also built in a freeze function that captures sounds and plays them back in a modified, constantly evolving loop. This allows you to create very cool drone-like pads or background atmospheres.

Its ease of use, combined with the ability to create complex and unusual effects, makes SpaceBlender a very interesting and versatile tool for sound designers, musicians and producers. Best of all, SpaceBlender will be available free of charge until May 22, 2025, after which it will be available for purchase at regular price.

Hopefully they have finally started including options to resize the plugin window (as it’s not 2010 anymore). I used to use Soundtoys all the time but changed to Melda just because I can’t really see what I’m doing on a 4k screen with Soundtoys plugins.

This looks interesting though so could be a gateway back to me using at least one of their plugins again 🙂
