Just announced today, the new AB1.6TBS in Tri Tone Burst Matte finish is the first HSS model in the ever expanding Solar Guitars line up. As we have come to expect from the brand, this model is packed with great hardware and features, and perfect for the modern guitar player.
Solar Guitars AB1.6TBS Tri Tone Burst Matte
So far, Ola Englund’s Solar Guitars has released plenty of models. But this is the first time the company has ever had an HSS model. The new AB1.6TBS has an alder body in the Tri Tone Burst Matte finish, a 25.5″ scale length roasted maple bolt-on neck fitted with 24 jumbo stainless steel frets, an Evertune bridge, and a set of Duncan Solar pickups in that HSS configuration. You also get all the good stuff, like the Luminlay glow-in-the-dark side dots and Solar 18:1 locking tuners.
The HSS layout consists of the aforementioned Duncan Solar pickups with a pair of stacked single-coil models in the neck and middle positions. These are then paired with a humbucker in the bridge position. These are then wired via a 5-way blade switch and a single volume and tone control.
Overall, it looks like a very tasty modern guitar. I like the more subdued traditional burst finish. In my opinion, it works really well on the HSS layout with the black hardware. You can pre-order this new model direct from the Solar Guitars’ main site (see link below), and they should start shipping around 20 February.
The company’s latest Instagram post about the new model has already gained a lot of interest. So it’s likely that this new HSS layout will be popular with players. Plus, I really do like the Tri Tone Burst Matte finish, and can see that appealing to many, as well.
