Isivisi SLURP: Spatial FM Synth for Rotational Textures
SLURP by Isivisi, which grew out of the VCV Rack module of the same name released a couple of years ago, is one of the most unique software synths we’ve seen in a while. Based on the concept of spatial dynamics, SLURP blends FM synthesis with a 3D rotational engine. While this may seem a bit puzzling at first, it actually produces a wide variety of unique timbres.

Here’s how it works: SLURP offers three oscillators, each assigned to one rotational axis (X, Y, Z). Their waveforms meet in the 3D space and affect each other, and you can use the Influence, Rotation, and Phase controls to shape the sound. There’s even a handy visualizer that shows you what’s going on, which is very nice to have with this unique synthesis concept.
The free version of SLURP is monophonic and comes with four oscillator waveshapes: sine, saw, square, and phasor. There’s also a paid version ($35) that offers 16 voices, a noise source, additional modulators, and the ability to process an audio input signal. More features like wavetable oscillators and sample playback are planned.
SLURP is available for macOS, Windows, and Linux in VST, CLAP, AU, and standalone formats.
UnplugRed Modman: Add Randomized Movement to any Sound
Modman by UnplugRed could be your new secret weapon for adding organic movements to any sound. Based on a Perlin noise algorithm, this unique modulating multi-effect can make pads more interesting, widen the stereo field, generate tape-style effects, and more. Perlin noise—a type of gradient noise—is more commonly used in computer graphics to create natural-looking image textures. In Modman, UnplugRed has turned it into an organic modulation engine.

The plugin includes three effects: Drift, a resonant lowpass filter, and saturation. There’s also an amplitude control. All can be modulated by the Perlin modulation engine, controlled by the Speed, Master Speed, and Stereo knobs and a variety of shapes.
Modman is available for macOS, Windows, and Linux in VST3, AU, and CLAP formats.
Blenheim Sound reVUe: Precise VU Metering with Superior Ballistics

Who doesn’t love a good VU meter? The trusty needles from the analog age are still the best when it comes to providing a visual representation of how loud a signal actually feels. Sadly, many digital recreations lack this quality. That’s why Blenheim Sound created reVue, a free VU meter plugin that not only looks gorgeous, but also offers a precise recreation of the response characteristics and ballistics as defined in the 1940s broadcast specification.
Although reVUe is finely tuned and calibrated out of the box, you can adjust the calibration if necessary. And if you’re a Reaper user, you’re in for a special treat: reVUe supports Reaper’s Embedded UI integration, meaning that you can add it directly to your mixer panel.
reVUe is available for macOS and Windows in VST3, AU, and CLAP formats.
