Arthur Joly has released an updated beginners Eurorack system for 2021 offering everything you need for a small modular system in one stylish package.
Paired up with an Arturia Keystep and a remarkable stylish and pleasingly strange looking case the Sistema Euro-Reco comes with 9 Eurorack modules and a front panel power module.
In the system you get 3 VCOs based on the CEM 3340 chip with triangle, sawtooth and pulse waveforms. They have pulse width modulation, sync and modulation inputs and can be used as pitch oscillators or LFOs. Next is a 24dB low pass filter with a useful 3 inputs with level control which would mix all three oscillators to the single input on the VCA. 2 ADSR envelopes help drive the filter and the VCA separately. Two 1-3 multiples also house some white and pink noise generators and lastly, we have a Sample & Hold module.
The Sistema Euro-Reco is designed to be used with the included Arturia Keystep for a 3-oscillator playable synth vibe rather than an exploratory modular experience although there’s no reason why you can’t have a bit of both.
The system comes with a pack of 12 patch cables, some Befaco Bananuts to add a bit of colour to the patch sockets and the remarkable case. It costs a relatively affordable $7,000 Brazilian which equates to a bit under £1,000 plus shipping and import taxes. They are making a few for the Brazilian market first before looking to widen it to the international market so if you’re interested you should give them a shout first to see what the story is.
It’s a simple modular synth that you know is going to sound fabulous and be built to perfection by Reco-Synth.
