Sabroi AS Console picks out the best features of different mixing consoles and puts them together into a Max for Live device. Some functions even go beyond the capabilities of the original hardware. And unlike most virtual analog plug-ins, you can get AS Console at a fairly slim price. You do need a copy of Ableton Live Suite, though.

AS Console is made for Ableton Live using Max for Live. It gets you the best of multiple mix consoles in one clearly laid out device. You can change the order of different modules which you use for sound shaping and processing.

The chain starts with a Non Linear Drive module which recreates console transformer saturation. This module features an Analog Distortion section which emulates the sound of a tube diode clipping as accurately as possible. This gives the audio signal a little more harmonic substance. Up to four times oversampling is available for the module as well. There is also a preamp emulation that you can mix in.

The Еqualizer module is based on British Class A EQs and aims to be musical rather than surgical. So it’s all about adding a little bit of color to the sound. The three parametric bands offer several fixed frequencies that you choose separately for each band. The Compressor module can be used in either single or multiband mode. The response times are modeled after various analog compressors.

The Normalization module automatically turns up the volume of your audio and rides the gain to fit it between the specified min and max ranges. Finally, the Width module handles expanding the stereo width and works in multiband. The effect is based on a series of delays with “complex routing”. It is designed so that the transients of the original material should remain clear.

The developer has dealt very intensively with the creation of this device, even showing the list of resources used for the development and linking to them on the product page. The interface looks like the standard Ableton effects and instruments, so it feels right at home.
