Meet the new PreSonus Eris Pro 4 Studio Reference Monitors
The new PreSonus Eris Pro 4 is the latest addition to the Eris Pro series of studio reference monitors released in September of 2023. Featuring the same coaxial point-source design as its larger siblings, the Eris Pro 4 presents itself as a more compact alternative for surround and stereo mixing applications.
PreSonus Eris Pro 4: Compact Coaxial Monitor
If you’ve been eyeing the PreSonus Eris Pro series of coaxial studio monitors, but were hoping for a smaller alternative, the new Eris Pro 4 fits the bill nicely. Like the larger Eris Pro 6 and 8, the new model features a single point-source design for a wide sweet spot, precise stereo imaging, and better phase alignment. PreSonus says that it’s equally well-suited for Dolby Atmos and stereo applications. I think the compact, point-source design makes it a great choice for smaller surround setups.
The 1-inch ultra-low mass silk dome tweeter is located in the center of a 4.5-inch woven composite woofer. The two drivers are powered by an 80-watt Class AB amp module, which delivers 45 watts to the LF driver and 35 watts to the tweeter. PreSonus states a frequency response of 55 Hz to 20 kHz with a crossover frequency of 3.4 kHz.
Versatile Connectivity and Tuning Options
On the back of the ported enclosure, the PreSonus Eris Pro 4 offers a choice of balanced XLR and TRS inputs. There’s also an unbalanced RCA jack, which will come in handy for home cinema and DJ applications. In addition to a switchable low-cut filter (80 or 100 Hz) and a three-way Acoustic Space switch, the monitor offers sweepable mid and high bands for acoustic tuning.
What’s more, the PreSonus Eris Pro 4 offers provisions for wall and ceiling mounts, so you can position it precisely where you need it.
The new 4-inch model is a nice addition to the Eris Pro series. It fills the gap where the larger models are too bulky or simply too much for the acoustic environment.
Price and availability
At the time of this writing, we do not know when the Eris Pro 4 will become available. In terms of pricing, it’ll obviously be less than the 6-inch model, which currently retails for about $350-400 apiece. My best guess is that we can expect a price in the $300-350 range. We’ll keep you updated.
