Beam Splitter

OBNE’s Beam Splitter is a dynamic signal-processing tool designed to transform a standard input into a massive, multi-dimensional soundscape by duplicating a single signal into three distinct paths. Now, they have updated the design, adding more to the pedal to make the split even more fun.

OBNE has described it as combining drives, flangers, lo-fi vibratos, and trailing slapback echoes into a single pedal, so expect a lot to play with. It also offers both buffered trails and true bypass switching, so it will play nicely on pedalboards.

Controls

Each drive section has controls for Gain, Volume, and Tone parameters, allowing you to dial in precise amounts of distortion, output volume, and high-frequency brightness.

For spatial manipulation, independent Time and Feedback controls manage delay lengths up to 211 milliseconds, along with decay resonance.

You can inject organic movement and a subtle chorus effect using the Deviate control to introduce random delay variations, while the Spread knob widens the stereo image. Finally, routing is managed through Delay Select, which lets you choose precisely which drive sections feed into the delay line.

The whole concept remains the same: take one signal and split it three ways. This stompbox allows musicians to create expansive washes of sound from one audio source. Let’s take a closer look at the new updated features of the V2 in more detail.

This V2 pedal delivers comprehensive performance upgrades, starting with full MIDI control over every parameter to expand preset storage from three onboard slots up to 127 total.

Audio routing is exceptionally flexible, supporting mono, mono-to-stereo, internal stereo input collapsing, and Old Blood Noise Endeavors’ proprietary Trereo system via TRS or TS connections. For tone and fidelity, the device features a completely revoiced Drive 3 transistor circuit with a wider, more dynamically reactive range and fuzz-like characteristics, paired with refined components that ensure a lower noise floor and pristine operation even at high gain.

Finally, the expanded control layout introduces expression pedal capability for all main knobs and a versatile updated three-footswitch configuration for independent drive switching or preset cycling.

It is available in three finishes: Cool, Warm, and Shadow.
