Big-shot producer Chris Lord-Alge and Waves have collaborated on a plug-in once again, and it’s their biggest release by far. CLA Mix Hub is a channel strip which integrates the producer’s favorite Solid State Logic gear and runs on up to 64 channels simultaneously – practically turning your DAW into a 64-channel SSL console with crosstalk emulations and all else that makes those consoles sound the way they do.

The teaser shows familiar components, such as the SSL parametric EQ, compressor, and master fader which we know from the plethora of emulations available out there. I expect this one to sound a little different and more mix-ready out of the box, since Waves must have modeled not just the hardware, but CLA’s particular approach to it as well. It will be an interesting alternative to the many SSL emulations which do the hardware justice but also take a somewhat experienced hand to make the best out of. I think studying the layout and presets included in CLA Mix Hub will be an illuminating experience for many.

The price and release date haven’t been unveiled yet, but a comfortable introductory price is to be expected as per Waves’ long-standing price policy.

UPDATE: The official product page is up and the intro price is a comfy USD 69. Enjoy your SSLs, folks!
