Apogee are releasing an updated version of their flagship audio interface at NAMM 2016: the Symphony I/O MKII. Delivering Apogee’s renowned AD/DA converters and modular I/O options, the Symphony I/O Mk II connects directly to three different platforms – Thunderbolt, Pro Tools HD or Waves SoundGrid.

A new look, including a touchscreen display, and a choice of connectivity options upgrade the Symphony I/O chassis. Being at the high end of the market, a small glimmer of light for existing owners will be the ability to use their existing Symphony I/O modules.

I have no doubt that these interfaces will sound as good as they always have done. Besides the new look, and additional connectivity options, it will be interesting to see how else they have refined these already high class units further. Quieter fans perhaps? I’m also asking myself why go with just Waves SoundGrid instead of Dante or AVB, and what happened to MADI?

There are several configurations for the Symphony I/O MKII depending on how many analogue and/or digital channels you require and what type of connectivity you will be using. The Thunderbolt versions are already shipping with the others coming soon. Check out the Apogee web site for more information and pricing:
