Mogwai Audiotools has released MREV Plates. The plug-in offers four modulated plate reverbs with many knobs for your fiddling pleasure. At the USD 15 introductory price, MREV Plates looks like a steal.
Mogwai Audiotools MREV Plates
2020 has been a great year for reverb plug-ins so far, with several interesting releases like Neunaber Audio Wet, United Plugins Verbum and Abletunes RVRB. Mogwai Audiotools from Australia is joining the fun with MREV Plates. The plug-in offers four different plate reverbs, which you can fine-tune to your liking with an extensive set of controls.
There are separate high pass and low pass filters for both the dry signal and the reverb, and you can adjust the volumes of the dry and wet channels independently. The reverb offers an intensity control, which “increases the impact of the reverb”, according to Mogwai. I’m curious to find out how this knob affects the sound. Modulation lets you modulate the reverb tail, although there doesn’t seem to be a way to adjust the speed and/or waveform of the modulation. Finally, the plug-in has a pre-delay knob, which is a bit unusual for a plate reverb.
Add to this the input and output level sliders and the option to operate the plug-in in mono, stereo and even M/S mode, and MREV Plates packs quite a few features for an inexpensive reverb plug-in.
The company also offers MREV Springs, a spring reverb plug-in with the same GUI. The MREV Mixer plug-in was also released just a few days ago and combines the plates, springs and another reverberator named Spaces. All three reverb plug-ins are on sale right now.

Mogwai Audiotools MREV Plates is available for Windows and macOS in VST3, AU and AAX formats (64 bit only). Until February 12, 2020, it is on sale for USD 15. After that, the price will increase to USD 39.
