Mid Valley FX’s new Lo-Fi Giant is a high-gain fuzz pedal, hand-wired in the Willamette Valley in the Pacific Northwest of the USA. It’s aimed at guitarists looking to experiment with oscillation and furious fuzz tones – not for the faint-hearted, then!
Mid Valley FX Lo-Fi Giant Fuzz
This new boutique fuzz pedal is the kind of pedal that… Let’s just say it isn’t designed for subtlety. The Lo-Fi Giant fuzz pedal can go between oscillating or non oscillating high-gain fuzz tones with ease. The intention here is to give you tones that will cut through a band mix when needed and still give you some experimental options. Listening to the demos, there seems little doubt that this little four-knob box can do both. That could help it appeal to a wider audience than your standard one-trick-pony fuzz pedal.
High Gain Oscillations
You can gate out oscillations completely, or you can go full-on high-gain. Because they influence each other, playing around with how the Fuzz and Voltage controls interact should let you dial in some individual tones.
The Volume and Tone controls then allow you to boost and sculpt your fuzz sounds further, by adjusting the clarity and attack to get your fuzz heard in a band situation. But if you want, it will happily pump out a massive sub octave fuzz to hit your audience hard in the chest.
This pedal has a nice big blue LED to let you know when the fuzz is engaged. It’s true bypass, so should play ball with your pedalboard well enough. The Lo-Fi Giant comes with a lifetime warranty and free shipping in the US.
You can hear the pedal in action in the official demo video below. If you want one, you can order directly from the company via the link at the bottom of this article. The first batch appears to have already sold out, so you may have to wait for them to build some more.
