The Origin line expands with the SSL ORIGIN 16, a more compact version of the 32-channel in-line console that made waves all over the industry since its introduction in 2019.

There is clearly still a demand for consoles with high-end quality production capabilities and an appreciation of the SSL analogue workflow. However, restrictions on space and energy consumption are problems you can face, regardless of your budget or focus within the audio industry.

Who is the SSL ORIGIN 16 designed for?

From project studios, educational institutions, production rooms, or smaller mixing and recording facilities, the ORIGIN 16 offers all the features of a large-format console in a size that could still be called relatively compact.

Although it may appear smaller, it still gives you 56 total inputs, with 16 mono in-line channels, 16 track busses, and 8 stereo subgroups.

Whether you use it primarily for tracking, or to harness the power of SSL’s analogue summing and extensive routing options during mixdown, it offers an incredible level of flexibility.

Apart from the old-school style non-flying faders, this smaller ORIGIN format has a wider appeal due to its competitive price. As usual, SSL has done its research so well that even studio owners who’ve sworn in-the-box oaths will be considering the ORIGIN 16 as an option in the near future.

With the same center section as the larger, 32-channel ORIGIN and all the same features like PureDrive preamps and E-series EQs it’s a formidable option for any purpose.

The industry may have changed since consoles became the tools of the trade, but SSL remains at the top of the game when it comes to designing powerful solutions that provide the foundation for creativity.

Pricing and availability:

The SSL ORIGIN 16 is available now and priced at £29,999 + VAT / $39,999 + Tax.
