Martin Guitar Road Series 2026: Mid-Range Acoustic Guitars With High-End Specs
New Retro and Modern subseries with beautiful colors!

The NAMM rush continues! With the Road Series 2026, Martin Guitar presents a complete revamp of its popular mid-range series. Now divided into two sub-series, a whopping 18 new models are available.
What makes the Road Series 2026 unique?
Just in time for NAMM, Martin Guitars is revamping its popular Road Series. Introducing Road Series 2026! First and foremost, Martin now divides the lineup into two sub-series: Retro and Modern. While the Retro line continues to focus on a vintage vibe with classic D and 000 shapes, the Modern line is aimed at those looking for a contemporary performance guitar for the stage.

The highlight for sound connoisseurs is the Retro Plus series, which features torrefied spruce tops and high-quality L.R. Baggs electronics. This brings you pretty close to the legendary Standard sound.
The new Road Series closes the gap between the affordable X Series and the expensive models from the famed Standard Series. Anyone who has always wanted a “real” Martin without having to take out a loan now has a much more logical choice.
How does the Modern series differ from the Retro series?

The all-black DC-10E Modern Black* model is probably the most striking in terms of appearance of this series. It is worth noting that Martin Guitar divides the Road Series not only into two sub-series, but also into four styles for quicker model identification:
- 10-Style: Satin body; solid spruce top or sapele top; solid sapele back and sides; Martin E1 electronics; inspired by Style 15 guitars.
- 12-Style: Glossy body; solid spruce top; solid sapele back and sides; Martin E1 electronics; inspired by Style 18 guitars.
- 13-Style: Glossy body; solid spruce top; solid black walnut or koa veneer back and sides; Martin E1 electronics (L.R. Baggs on SC-13E); inspired by Style 28 guitars.
- Retro Plus: Glossy body; torrefied solid spruce top; solid mahogany or granadillo back and sides; L.R. Baggs electronics;
In this regard, the DC-10E Modern Black is a 10-style model. Generally speaking, the models from the Modern series are those with a cutaway and a more curved body shape.
Road Series 2026 Retro
Few other manufacturers embody acoustic guitar tradition and that old, warm acoustic sound as much as Martin Guitar. This is where the manufacturer’s strength lies, with some of its premium models reaching 5-digit price tags. If you want a Martin, but can’t afford the Standard models with said prices, the Retro series is for you.

The guitars in the series come in either D or 000 body sizes. The design remains simple, timeless, and elegant. A model such as the 000-12E Retro Road Series* with a spruce top and sapele back and sides exudes the charm of the old Martin legends. Thomann offers a whole range of new models* from the 2026 Road Series.
