Another strange box of digital synthesis from Gotharman’s Musical Instrument. Zybraz features 24 voice polyphony made with Gotharman’s resonator oscillators, filters and effects.

The oscillators come from the Little deFormer 3 (LD3) with some additional character and brightness. The waveforms morph from sine to triangle to saw to square wave and they can all be pulse width modulated. There’s also a noise generator. They then go through a resonator which is fed back into the oscillator as much or as little as you like.

The filter section is full of Gotharman’s favourite types from the LD3 including two lowpass, highpass and bandpass plus our favourites “Fat” and “Destroy”.

There are 2 parts, an upper and a lower which revolve around a keyboard split point. There are 8 effect types that can be selected for each part with delays, enhancers, bit crushing and resonators. Each part has 2 envelopes and 2 LFOs. Almost all the parameters can be modulated by up to 4 sources at one time and have full MIDI implementation.

Inside the box it can store 63 presets with number 64 being an initialised preset for those who want to start from scratch (very handy!).

Gotharman’s synths are always filled with thunderous sounds and crazy amounts of filtering and modulation. This looks a bit odd due to the blue-backed writing all over the front but I guess it gives a better indication of what happens when you engage the Shift key.

Check out the video below and prepare yourself for some deliciously harsh sounds. The preorder price if €539.
