This Gibson Custom Shop “Live at the Regal” Argentine Grey ES-335 is a Murphy Lab recreation of the guitar played by B.B. King and the one he used on one of the greatest live blues albums ever recorded.
B.B. King Live at the Regal Argentine Grey ES-335
The B.B. King Live at the Regal Argentine Grey ES-335 is the latest limited edition run from the Gibson Custom Shop Murphy Lab and there will be 100 guitars made available for this recreation.
Standout features of this exclusive model are the Argentine Grey Sunburst aged nitro finish, the Bigsby vibrato and the Varitone switch. A switch that B.B. King is famous for using on almost all of his semi-hollow guitars.
The guitar is built using a three-ply maple/poplar/maple top, back and sides, it also has a solid maple centre block.
It comes with a ‘59 Medium C-shape profile neck that has an Indian rosewood fretboard with a 12”-radius and 22 frets, with a set of nitrocellulose dot inlays. The neck also has a ‘50s No-Tube truss rod.
It comes fitted with a pair of Custombucker pickups as standard. Plus, an ABR-1 bridge and a ’50s reissue of a Bigsby B7 vibrato. Along with a set of True Historic Gold Top Hat knobs with Dial Pointers (thumb bleeders) and a set of Grover Milk Bottle Rotomatic tuning machines.
The guitar comes in a custom Lifton leather case with plenty of case candy to make it a little bit extra special. Including a set of custom playing cards, a period-correct leather guitar strap, an Oxford pennant, and more
As it is a Murphy Lab recreation it isn’t exactly cheap. Though it does look quite nice and if you collect expensive guitars then you will possibly love it.
If it can get you anywhere close to King’s tone on Live at the Regal, then it might actually be worth the money.
