Yet another limited edition amp from Fender! This time, the Arizona-based firm has announced a Black Western Blues Deluxe Reissue, the latest addition to their seemingly ever-expanding FSR series of upgraded guitar amplifiers.

Celestion G12-65 speaker

The Black Western Blues Deluxe Reissue has an upgraded single Celestion G12-65 speaker, instead of the standard Eminence 12″ speaker found on the standard model. This is a nice upgrade and one that will make a noticeable difference to the tone.

What is really quite striking about this model is the faux-leather ‘Western’-style amp covering. It gives the amp a cool retro look, which makes it stand out from a lot of other amplifiers. It isn’t real leather, of course, and so it doesn’t cost the earth, but the aesthetic I am sure will appeal to many players.

Specifications

This amp has two channels, and gets its 40 Watts of power from a pair of 6L6 Groove Tubes and three 12AX7 preamp valves. The amp also has a spring reverb unit and an effects loop, so you can easily use it for gigging and studio work. This amp weighs in at around 20 kg and so isn’t too heavy either, and should fit easily into the boot of your car.

This version is available only on the European market, as is also the case with the recent BassBreaker 15 combo and its FSR sibling the Emerald Wheat Blues Deluxe amp.

RRP: EUR 999/GBP 875.99

I OWN ONE. CLEAN CHANNEL SOUNDS GREAT. HOWEVER ,IT’S NOT EFFECT PEDAL FRIENDLY. I HAVE A FEW OVERDRIVE PEDALS. A ,WAMPLER PINNACLE ,MAD PROFESSOR TWINBLE. WHEN I CLICK ONE OF THEM ON ,THE AMP SOUNDS VERY CHEAP ,CHEESY SOUNDING. SOUNDS LIKE CRAP!!!
IF ,YOU ARE ONLY GOING TO USE THE CLEAN CHANNEL ,LIKE ,FOR FUNK ,SOUL AND COUNTRY ,THEN YOU’LL BE FINE. OTHER THEN THAT ,I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH IT!

I have read that modulation pedals are better through the send and return. Mine handles my catalinbread formula 5f6 and my Tc spark well.
