But you’ve got to be quick because the first production run is for only 15 VEGA modules at a special price for delivery at the end of January.
The more I see of this module the more I like. It’s compact at 6HP and runs 4 channels of digital drum voices with an illuminated and hopefully engaging interface. Faselunare has designed a 2 knob and LED system to give you access to 12 parameters per voice. And the front panel actually represents part of the Lyra constellation of which Vega is the brightest star.
The 4 voices can be synthesized or samples. You can switch the oscillator from sine to square, ramp, noise or load a sample from the SD card. You then have control over Pitch, Pitch Envelope, Cutoff, Filter Envelope, Attack, Release, Q, Low Pass / Band Pass, FM, FM Tune, Volume and Waveform. Yes, there’s a filter in there with low and bandpass modes.
You will have to give yourself time to learn the LED and colour combinations that tell you what you’re controlling and for which voice, but otherwise you’ve got 4 trigger inputs, 4 big buttons and 4 voices – nothing too hard about that. There’s also a 5th trigger input which will fire a random voice on every pulse which you could use to mess things about to generate random patterns.
The only thing it lacks is any CV control or internal modulation but you can save up to 5 configurations as a preset and recall them on the fly.
These first 15 modules, if there are still any left, are on a special price of €250 plus shipping. They hope to have them ready by the end of January 2022.
