The Black Lion Audio Revolution EXP is a new ADAT expansion interface with 8 channels of analogue I/O and Black Lion’s Macro-MMC clocking technology.
Known for digital innovation and converter modifications, this is an interesting development from Black Lion, especially considering that the Revolution series interfaces don’t actually feature ADAT. Perhaps they will in the future?
Black Lion Audio Revolution EXP
First and foremost, the Revolution EXP functions exclusively as a converter/expander, and although it does have a USB-C port – this is for firmware updates only.
All I/O has clearly visible metering on the front panel, giving you a nice overview of your session. Meanwhile, the eight input channels each have impedance switches to change the gain down to -10dBv when you need to.
In addition, there are two sets of ADAT I/O and Word clock I/O so you can use the Revolution EXP as the master clock for your entire studio at up to 192 kHz.
Revolution EXP
Overall, the selling point is the ultra-low jitter converters with Macro-MMC clocking. Also, we speculate that Black Lion will complete the Revolution series with a flagship multichannel rackmount interface, that is ADAT-equipped of course.
