The SYNTRX synth is now available off-the-shelf from your local music store and direct from Erica Synths for a Synthi AKS inspired, convention challenging audio adventure.
It’s been about a year since information on this stunning and unusual synthesizer first emerged from Erica Synths. It seemed such a departure from their modular products but also feeds into their mission to mix ideas from the past with concepts for the future.
SYNTRX is a 3-oscillator analogue synthesizer with colourful noise, a resonant VCF, Ring modulation, looping trapezoid envelopes, VCAs, spring reverb and Sample & Hold. It follows the EMS Synthi with the emphasis on expression with the joystick controller and complex and fruitful modulations via an innovatively digital modulation matrix.
It’s a perfectly laid out synthesizer with a clean interface that wraps itself around the glowing dots of signal and CV routing. The VU meter adds to the vintage feel and the inbuilt speakers give it its own tonal character and independence of operating in its own space. This is one nice synthesizer.
For €2500 ex VAT it’s a premium machine aimed at sound explorers and connoisseurs of tone. It’s beautiful to look at and would be a wonderful machine to explore.
