Erica Synths has opened pre-orders for its SYNTRX analogue synthesizer. The EMS Synthi AKS inspired SYNTRX was unveiled last year and caused quite a stir. You can now pre-order the synth for EUR 2500, for delivery in April.
Erica Synths SYNTRX pre-orders
The first photos and videos of the Erica Synths SYNTRX appeared in September 2019. If the SYNTRX instantly makes you think of the EMS Synthi AKS, you’re on the right track. But Erica Synths points out that the SYNTRX is not a clone, as it doesn’t use any of the schematics and circuitry of the Synthi AKS.
The SYNTRX is an analogue desktop synthesizer with a digitally controlled analogue patch matrix. It offers three VCOs, a noise generator with color filter, ring modulator and resonant VCF. VCO2 can be synced to VCO1, while VCO3 offers an option to turn off key sync and use it for FM or modulation purposes. There’s also an AD/ASR looping envelope generator or “trapezoid”, S&H and a spring reverb.
The LED matrix is clearly inspired by the Synthi’s pin matrix. It’s operated by two rotary knobs and a couple of buttons and lets you map signal and modulation sources and destinations, including the X/Y joystick. Furthermore, the SYNTRX offers two external inputs with an input amplifier, as well as an output signal filter. But you don’t even have to connect the outputs, as the SYNTRX is equipped with internal speakers. For connecting to your setup, the synth offers MIDI In/Out, a Gate input and two CV inputs.
