Eric Church is a hugely popular country music artist who performs live and tours all over, so he requires a guitar he can rely on. The Epiphone Eric Church Hummingbird Dark, his latest signature model, has been designed to help him do this and comes in a fantastic-looking Cobra Burst.
Custom Pickguard
It also sports a custom Hummingbird pickguard with Carolina Blue and silver accents, which suits the design really well.
’60s Style
Based on a square-shouldered 1960s Gibson dreadnought, it has a solid European spruce top and mahogany back/sides. The mahogany neck is a Rounded C profile paired with a 12-inch radius rosewood fretboard fitted with 20 frets.
Pretty standard specifications, except this signature model is only a four-inch Performer body depth, making it more comfortable to play and slightly slimmer than standard.
Fishman
This signature guitar is designed to handle stage and studio equally; therefore, it is fitted with the Fishman Sonicore under-saddle pickup and a Fishman Presys VT preamp. The volume and tone controls are tucked away neatly in the soundhole, easy to access when you need to tweak them.
This model ships with a custom black Epiphone hardshell case with Church’s signature. The fact it includes a fitted hard case is a winner in my opinion, as it makes it a viable instrument for working musicians, as it is nicely protected from day one.
Verdict
It is a great-looking acoustic guitar, and if you want something which you can use anywhere, it has you covered. The general styling and aesthetic are dark, which really suits the guitar, yet it doesn’t scream signature model.
Unfortunately, Epiphone guitar prices are creeping up, and this model now officially retails for $799, which is higher than I would like. But it is under the magic $1000 mark, and so in 2026, we call this affordable.
Even if you are not a fan of The Chief or country music, this is a nice guitar.
