The Epiphone Hummingbird Tribute series is based on the Gibson acoustic guitar models released in 1960, their first square-shoulder dreadnought model. Now, available as an affordable model for everyone, could this be the acoustic guitar for you?

Hummingbird Tribute

These new Epiphone Hummingbird Tribute models all feature the classic square-shoulder dreadnought body shape. Built with a select layered spruce top and layered mahogany back and sides, it delivers a warm and balanced tone.

By not using solid wood tops and sides, these models are priced at only a fraction of a full Gibson US-made model, so if you need an affordable dreadnought, they could be for you.

Hummingbird Pickguard

These guitars really embrace a vintage aesthetic with antique ivory-coloured binding and a traditional tortoise-shell pickguard shaped in the famous Hummingbird silhouette.

The Hummingbird’s iconic pickguard makes it instantly recognisable. It quickly became a favourite for legends like Keith Richards and Brian Jones of The Rolling Stones, and it is still played today by diverse artists from Thom Yorke to Sheryl Crow.

It features a laurel reverse-belly bridge with a compensated plastic saddle, matching ivory-coloured bridge pins, and a Kalamazoo-shaped headstock, equipped with Epiphone deluxe die-cast tuners, a plastic nut, and a “Tribute” engraved truss-rod cover.

Designed for comfortable playability, the glued-in mahogany neck features a rounded C profile that is ideal for both beginners and experienced musicians. The neck has a laurel fingerboard with 20 frets, dot inlays, and matching antique ivory binding.

Finish Options

This model is available in three high-gloss finishes: Antique Natural, Ebony, and Heritage Cherry Sunburst. The Heritage Cherry Sunburst finish is also available in a left-handed version. They do not come supplied with a case or a gig bag, so you may want to factor one into the price to keep them protected.

At this super low price point, I can forgive Epiphone for not including a hard case, but a basic gig bag would have made these a really fantastic deal. However, having at least one left-handed option is a bonus, and it is available in the best finish.

Price & Availability

The new Epiphone Hummingbird Tribute series is now available at Thomann, priced at $222/£199/€229.
