The new UK made JV-1A Blue Bottle, an all-tube inductorized mid booster based on a Pultec tube EQ. It was developed with the input from Argent’s John Verity and I think it sounds pretty phenomenal.
Effectrode JV-1A Blue Bottle
The pedal was developed in England and is a limited run based on the rarity of components needed to build it. I’m hoping they decide to make it a permanent fixture as the demos sound lush, but it;ll be down to availability of parts. The Blue Bottle is a boutique mid-boost pedal based upon an old Pultec Valve EQ and in the SoundCloud demos below it sounds pretty smooth and natural, I love it.
Two controls Mid Boost and Volume is all you need and with 18dB of all-tube gain available, this pedal can kick the preamp of your amp into overdrive with no problem at all.
Boutique with a limited supply
The Blue Bottle is fitted out internally with audiophile-grade components including precision, low noise, metal-film resistors, polyester coupling capacitors and uses silver solder throughout. As I mentioned before, they are using an N.O.S.(New Old Stock) valve in the circuit, production is limited and will cease once they run out of viable hardware. Again, I just hope they can find some alternate options here, as the circuit sounds great to me.
The unit is true-bypass and has ‘anti-pop’ or ‘thump’ foot switching circuitry, to stop it ruining the moment. The Blue Bottle comes supplied with a 12VDC 600mA centre positive power supply.
You can pre-order now and it should be available early 2019 according to their website.
