Dtronics recently announced their hardware programmer for the Yamaha Reface DX, and they also have the DT7 programmer for the original Yamaha DX synths, but it turns out they are not stopping there. They’ve now turned their attention to that other form of annoying-to-program synthesis – Linear Arithmetic with the DT-01.

Roland brought their LA synthesis back to life with the D-05 Boutique synthesizer. And as I said at the time they also faithfully recreated the lack of controls and annoying menu based synth editing. But Dtronics have something to say about this and has announced that their DT-01 LA programmer is in production.

Although it’s designed to match the Boutique D-05 it will also work fine with the classic Roland D-50 synthesizer and D-550 rack. Dtronics has pulled out almost all the parameters and mapped them to one of the 56 knobs. Some knobs are doubly assigned but they say it’s very easy to switch function.
