Does EZ Drummer 2 even need an introduction? I don’t think so. I’ll tell you what it does need, though – a big ol’ update! It feels like EZ Drummer 2 has been around for times unremembered! It’s still a kicker and it’s still well maintained, so the software is perfectly usable to this day. But it’s been a freaking while and we’d be enamoured by some fresh developments (outside of EZX expansions).
EZ Drummer 2 deal – EUR 69 until Nov 30, 2021
Anyway, good ol’ EZ Drummer 2 is on sale for EUR 70 until November’s through. And that’s a great price for what you’re getting – very capable virtual drums that are easy to use and ripe for expansion with all kinds of drum and percussion sounds under the sun. Toontrack is regularly selling EZX expansions as well, so look around.
Out of the factory, EZ Drummer 2 features 5 complete drum sets and an additional 15 kick and snare sounds to mix and match. It also boasts a percussion library with tambourines, shakers, maracas, handclaps and finger snaps – you know, the exact stuff you need for your homespun doom metal project.
The MIDI library with readily available fills and patterns is no slouch, either. You can take them into your DAW or use EZ Drummer 2’s built-in arranger to line things up. Also of note is the full-blooded mixer section with the kind of studio effects you’d expect to treat bomb-sounding drums with. All in all, EZD 2 is still a great and complete package. At EUR 70, it’s also very affordable. Most drum libraries like that tend to start at USD 99 when on sale.
EZ Drummer 2 works under Windows 7 (or later) and macOS (10.9 or later) in standalone, AAX (64-bit), AU (64-bit), and VST2 (32 / 64-bit) formats. The basic installation takes up 4GB of disk storage.
