Synth fans have an opportunity to grab ASM’s Hydrasynth Desktop wavetable synthesizer at a reduced price: EUR 745, down from EUR 899! That’s pretty tempting, because – let’s face it – the Hydrasynth is a beast. Of course, you may decide you want the version with keys and a ribbon controller. But the tradeoff with the Desktop incarnation is that it takes up less space and invites alternative sequencing methods – which is one way of getting interesting sounds.
Hydrasynth Desktop deal
The opportunity to save EUR 150 on the Hydrasynth is a godsend for anyone who has been interested in the synth but hasn’t pulled the trigger yet. As a hardware wavetable synth, the ASM unit is extensive and most of its parameters can be reached directly from the surface. This makes the device a powerful live performance tool, in addition to a studio highlight.
In addition, the macro controller can be used to control a number of parameters simultaneously with just one knob. That brings a lot of creativity into play. The trigger pads act like the Ableton Push as a sequencer or keyboard (which also includes a scale function). So you have some on-board sequencing and playing options before reaching for a MIDI keyboard or external sequencer.
If you want to learn more about Hydrasynth and the all-star team that created it, this piece by Perfect Circuit is as good of a source as it gets.
Prices and availability for Hydrasynth Desktop
Ashun Sound Machines’ Hydrasynth Desktop is currently available here at Thomann (affiliate link) for EUR 745 instead of EUR 899. That’s EUR 150 (15%) saved from the original price. We don’t know for how long the deal will be active, or whether the price cut is permanent. In these times of production and chip shortage troubles, I’d be honestly surprised at the latter.
