The new Dave Sommerfield GiG ‘Portable Guitar Workshop’ is a practical, portable solution for working on your guitar and gives you a safe place to work on your instrument when on the road.
Dave Sommerfield’s GiG is a system consisting of a a set of three clamps. You clamp your guitar to your hardcase, giving you a temporary workbench when you’re on the road. I’ve been caught out at gigs in the past, needing to work on my guitar, but with nowhere to do that last-minute repair. So to have a place to safely clamp your guitar in position as you work is really quite useful. The three clamps have soft rubber touch points, so they won’t damage your guitars finish.
The set comes in three parts: two side clamps and one adjustable neck clamp. Each can be strapped to your hard case or permanently mounted to a work surface, if you want this for home use. But if you then need to take it with you, you can! It’s lightweight and made from sturdy materials and should have the necessary durability and strength. You also get a little travel pouch to keep the three components and their included straps, so they don’t get lost in transit.
I’m a bit of a tinkerer when it comes to my guitars, so something like this appeals to my nature. I like to clean my frets, solder new pickups in and do all manner of servicing and upgrading to my instruments. I think I’d have lots of use for the Dave Sommerfield GiG. You can order it from the link below and it comes in either red, blue or grey finishes.
