Cre8audio desktop series fan? Me too. With the East Beast and West Pest synthesizers, plus Boom Chick drum machine and Assembler mixer, you’re pretty much set for live performances and DAWless jams. Or I should say almost set, as the one thing that’s missing is a sequencer.
Stop the presses! Cre8audio has today announced Programm, a hardware step sequencer with an intuitive-looking interface and lots of generative functionality to spice up your rig.
Cre8audio Programm: Drums and Pitch
Programm, which can function either as a standalone unit or 40HP Eurorack module, offers two kinds of sequencing: percussion and pitched. There are eight drum lanes with dedicated gate outputs, plus four note sequences, two of which have dedicated analog pitch, CV and gate outputs, giving you a total of 12.
The pad-dominated front panel lets you accomplish all tasks with either buttons or knobs. Use the grid pads to play notes in live mode or sequence in step mode. They also provide visual feedback in lieu of an LCD screen.
When in step mode, the seven knobs across the top give you hands-on control over functions like note position shift, gate length, trigger conditions, ratchets, pitch, and CV/CC out. Rather than set and forget, these let you “perform” the functions.
Programm is also equipped with generative functionality. Hit the Alt button to engage generative variations via chance, either per-step or globally. Assign chance CV input to any of the six parameters of one or all sequencers to modulate the randomization externally. There are also four customizable pattern generator algorithms.
Cre8audio Programm: Other Functionality
The new sequencer also features a song mode, key and scale selection, sequencer lengths of up to 64 steps per track, storage of up to 64 patterns and 32 songs, and an always-ready recall function for restoring the last played sequence.
There are also clock division options, quantize, groove, and other parameters.
In terms of clock, Programm features MIDI clock input and output and
CV clock input and output, as well as MIDI TRS Type A ins and outs. Other connectivity includes the eight drum triggers; pitch, CV and gate for sequences one and two; chance in; and reset in and out.
