The Zoom R4 MultiTrak is a compact digital recorder for capturing demos, song ideas, or any kind of audio content quickly and easily.
Zoom is well known for its handheld recorders for many different applications. However, rather than being designed around a fix microphone array, the R4 MultiTrak is designed to connect with your favourite mics and instruments.

As the name suggests, the R4 provides 4 mono recording tracks and a stereo bounce track. This allows you to quickly mix down and save your sessions while freeing up recording tracks to do more tracking.
If you wish to make any last-minute changes, the bounce function does have an undo feature, so you always have another chance to get things right. Also, all individually recorded tracks are saved, so you can recall them in a new project at any stage if you wish and the R4 supports MicroSD cards with up to 1 TB of storage space.
The R4 has two types of effects, including input effects like preamp and distortion types, and track effects such as EQ, echo, and reverb. It may not be a digital production station like an MPC, but you can certainly create the various vocal and instrumental sections of your songs with ease.

There is a built-in omnidirectional mic, designed for vocals and acoustic instruments and a pair of XLR combo inputs for mics, guitars, keyboards, and other instruments.
Recordings use a 32-bit float system, and the R4 also functions as a USB interface and offers compatibility with laptops and mobile devices.
When recording, there’s a rhythm section with 40 built-in drum patterns that you can use to build your songs around, which is certainly more exciting than a metronome.
The R4 is portable and can be powered via AA batteries or a USB power bank, and it has a tripod mount so you can position it at precisely the right angle for recording.
