Castle Studios For Sale: Get Yourself an Enchanted Studio in a Castle
Fancy your own castle recording studio in the coutryside?
Castle Studios is situated in an 18th-century German castle in Röhrsdorf, equipped with a range of recording spaces, as well as accommodation.
According to the Facebook account of Sylvia Massy, one of the studio’s most beloved patrons, Castle Studios will sell for anywhere between three and five million Euros. However, she said that the price is very much negotiable if the buyer plans to preserve the studio.
Castle Studios For Sale
The studio, or castle, to be exact, is located in the farmland region outside Dresden, in a small village Röhrsdorf, which is actually only an hour’s drive from Prague. The recording facility on the castle grounds features over 600m² of acoustic space with interconnected rooms that allow you to never lose sight of your bandmates when recording.

The list of equipment is impressive, with a wide variety of instruments, including a very old Bösendorfer piano and a vintage Neve 66 console in the main control room. The range of rooms available for recording is so extensive that there is even a basement reverb chamber, so you can truly explore your creative whims to make the most of your recording project.
The castle itself and the village of Röhrsdorf also provide inspiring surroundings to take in when you aren’t knee-deep in the recording process. The idyllic location makes Castle Studios a truly unique piece of real estate, because it’s a characterful space with history and a wonderfully curated gear collection capable of taking on so many creative projects.

Another plus side is that the studio already has a network of potential clients, so you aren’t starting from scratch. When you have producers and engineers like Sylvia Massy using the studio regularly, it shouldn’t be to hard to sell to others throughout the industry.
I’ve recorded over a dozen marvelous records here over the last 8 years. The studio facility is located in an outbuilding to the main castle, the control room is large and has a wall of windows with a lovely view of a neighboring park. The tracking rooms can accommodate 7-9 players with a separate isolation booth large enough for a drum kit.
Upstairs, the studio building features a huge cavernous loft with plenty of room for expansion. Downstairs is the castle “dungeon”, a large tiled room that is especially good for recording vocals and drums. Castle Röhrsdorf is a magical place. Some lucky person is going to buy it. Whoever buys it – please run it as a studio so all us crazy castle-lovers can keep coming!

You’d think Abbey Road would buy this, and fit it out with loads of retro and modern gear. If it’s only an hour from Prague, it’d be far enough out of the way to make an early Zep type album, or a Brothers In Arms, for the type of artist who make so much better stuff if you keep ’em away from London’s crack and opium dens….
