Based around three different amp models created using Blue Cat Audio’s Destructor plug-in engine, the new Free Amp plug-in runs on your PC or Mac via a DAW like Logic X, Cubase or Reaper. It also supports MIDI control and automation.

Usefully, you can copy and paste plug-in information between instances. The plug-in also has Undo and Redo and a “no load” feature that means that your computer’s CPU isn’t being uses when audio isn’t being passed through it. Some handy features here, which is especially nice to see because Blue Cat Audio are literally giving this thing away.

Here at Gearnews, we love a freebie and will be testing this new suite of guitar amp simulations over the next few days.
