Yesterday Behringer accidentally treated us to 6 new synthesizer clones and 5 drum machines based on the classic gear that we all want. Turns out it was not an accidental leak of new products, it was a “glitch” in their web server that revealed the figments of Uli’s fevered imagination. The WASP DELUXE, CAT, K-20, 2600, MS-101 and SYNTHI were purely “concepts”. The RD-808, 909, 999, LMX and OMX drum machines are not really being prototyped – they are just messing about with ideas.

I did think when writing it up yesterday that the descriptions were all a bit copy and paste and lacked individual definition. Although why play with concepts on your company’s product pages? It’s also funny that Uli promises so much these days that we are all a bit too keen to believe him. I mean he did manage to knock it out of the park with the DeepMind 12, but where is the Behringer Model D?

So, it was all a dream, that’s probably for the best as I don’t think we can cope with the devaluing of all the synthesizers in the world. I am left with one thought though – where does this image come from? Who is this woman? What is that synthesizer? Who is fooling who here?
