With its high-gloss metallic gold finish and symbolic design, the Maneki-Neko or beckoning cat is said to bring wealth and prosperity in Japanese culture. The figurine also stays true to the BE@RBRICK 400% design, but enhanced with four speakers inside the bear’s head that make up the QUAD’360 omnidirectional sound system.

The speakers are specially designed acoustic drivers, with two woofers and two tweeters that play back as a singular system in a 360-degree field, delivering the kind of sound you’d expect from a far larger speaker. The BE@RBRICK speaker pairs with iOS® or Android® devices via Bluetooth 5, and you can also access the basic track skip and volume controls in the bear’s hands.

A twist of the right hand skips to the next track, while the left hand adjusts the volume. What’s more, you can create a true stereo BE@RBRICK system by linking two bears for the ultimate listening experience. The BE@RBRICK speakers charge via USB-C in 1.5 hours, and they provide up to 6 hours of playback time.

What’s more, the battery is replaceable, so you can ensure that your BE@RBRICK speaker stays in the family for generations. Overall, the BE@RBRICK AUDIO Maneki-Neko is a novel project that can add a bit of fun to any corner of your house. Although you’re paying extra for the branding, the impressive speaker technology makes it a little more worthwhile.

The Bearbrick Audio 400% Bluetooth Speaker is no toy

[03 Aug 2023] The Bearbrick Audio 400% Bluetooth Speaker resembles a collectible toy figurine, but this collaborative design from Medicom Toy and Rinaro Isodynamics is more than just aesthetic.

Inside the bear, the QUAD’360 system projects an omnidirectional sound. Meanwhile, two bears can join forces to form a wireless stereo setup. This Bearbrick Audio design is available in 3 limited edition variants, so you should find something that suits your lifestyle.

Designing the Bearbrick Audio 400% Bluetooth Speaker

A pair of 20mm tweeters has been specifically designed to fit inside each of the bear’s ears, while the dual 40 mm woofers are contained in the head, which is hermetically sealed for optimum acoustic clarity.

The design itself is a result of over 20,000 hours of development time and is comprised of 214 completely new individual parts. The impressive QUAD’360 technology was developed by Ukrainian manufacturer, Rinaro Isodynamics.

As a collectible item, it only makes sense that the internal lithium-ion battery is replaceable. In 1.5 hours, it will charge fully via the USB-C port at the unit’s base, and then provide approximately 6 hours of uninterrupted playback.

The bears are Bluetooth 5.0 equipped, pairing easily with iOS or Android devices, and you can set up a stereo system simply by pairing the speakers with one another.

Pricing and availability:

Bearbrick Audio 400% Bluetooth Speakers are currently available for preorder, priced at $499, and shipping from November, when they will also be available at selected retailers.

So, a standalone (not paired with another one) plays in stereo anyway (hence the two speakers)? Aux input available?
