New from Krakli Plugins is a VSTi emulation of the classic Yamaha CS-80 synthesizer. It was designed by Ian Webster for sound designer Armin Kujashi. He calls it a “tribute” (I don’t think he’s dead or anything), but perhaps it’s more of a thank-you for all the work Kujashi has done with patch creation on Krakli plug-ins. In response, Kujashi has crafted a Vangelis inspired soundbank for the Arminator.

All this really means is that we get a free CS-80 to play with that comes with a bank of sumptuous Blade Runner style sounds. What’s not to like about that?

Arminator appears to have the two identical synthesizer layers of the original with their own oscillators, low and high pass filters, modulation and amplifier. The GUI layout is a little on the squashed side and is mostly fader based. It very much follows the CS-80 in style and layout.

The Arminator is a 32bit VSTi plug-in for Windows and is available free from the Krakli Facebook Group. As far as I can tell it’s the only way to get hold of a copy. While you’re waiting for your Group membership to be confirmed sit back and enjoy the sounds that will soon be yours.
