Apogee BOOM deal – 50% off Apogee plug-ins

The new Apogee BOOM is notably more portable and less expensive than other offerings by the manufacturer. It’s not that Apogee always aims to sell high. I think the old Apogee One with the built-in mic was great value for not that much money.

But the BOOM is indeed a proper Apogee USB interface with two inputs, one microphone preamp, and built-in DSP. It’s the essential Apogee qualities condensed into a highly compact format.

I haven’t used the BOOM myself. But, knowing Apogee, I assume it successfully qualifies as a modestly priced alternative to the company’s premium Symphony Desktop and Duet 3 interfaces. That said, the BOOM is significantly pricier than the many budget options presented by the likes of Focusrite, M-Audio, and Behringer.

Still, musicians, podcasters, and live streamers who started a while ago and are looking to upgrade can take their sound quality to the next level with an option like the BOOM.

The interface  is bus-powered over USB and features two inputs. The first one has a 1/4”-XLR combo jack and a mic preamp with a generous 62 dB of gain. Input 2 is a 1/4” jack for instruments and line-level sources.

Note that there are no hardware switches on the interface, such as phantom power and input toggling. Instead, there are software switches in the Apogee Control 2 app.

Additionally, the BOOM has Apogee’s built-in DSP that runs the company’s ECS Channel Strip digital effect. It features a 3-band EQ, compressor, and drive. Thanks to low-latency DSP, you can apply effects while monitoring and recording.

Apogee BOOM Deal – Price and availability

Plug-ins offered by the manufacturer include emulations of vintage hardware, such as the famous Pultec EQs, the Opto-3A tube compressor, and two proprietary effects – ModEQ 6 and ModComp. The discounts are available after registering your interface.
