AlphaTheta rekordbox Now Plays from Spotify
The latest version of the industry-standard DJ-set prep software.
[24 Sept 2025] You can now link your Spotify Premium account and access the wealth of songs and playlists available on the platform, directly within rekordbox.
The Latest about rekordbox:
With this Spotify integration update, your rekordbox library becomes practically infinite, giving you access to classic floor fillers and remixes, as well as the latest tracks from your favourite artists. What’s more, as a producer, it’s another reason to ensure that your catalogue is available on Spotify for DJs to access around the world.
AlphaTheta rekordbox v7.2.3 with Spotify Support
With the new v7.2.3 update, you can now plan your sets without needing to export tracks from external devices; all your prep can be done within rekordbox. Furthermore, any device that supports Performance mode compatibility for rekordbox can be used to play directly from Spotify, eliminating the need for memory sticks.

This means that any DJ setup using AlphaTheta or Pioneer DJ hardware can harness the versatility of direct Spotify streaming through rekordbox, which gives you the creative freedom to attempt new mixes and mashups with all the new songs you now have at your fingertips.
Spotify integration is an awesome development, especially for new DJs who haven’t quite settled on their sound and style. Rather than placing you in a lane, the way that Beatport and Traxsource do, this opens up the possibilities to a far wider musical scope. It’s also exciting for producers and remixers, because you are able to drop any track into the rekordbox deck and manipulate the playback speed.
If you combine this with stem separation, you have a powerful resource for sampling sounds from records and molding them to fit your own creative canvas. Although Spotify isn’t on the most favourable press run at the moment, this is certainly a reason to keep using the platform.

AlphaTheta rekordbox 7 Brings Intuitive Features
With version 7, the GUI and browser have been redesigned, offering you a range of new features to improve your workflow.
While rekordbox may have begun as a humble bridging software package to prepare files for Pioneer CDJ and XDJ media players, it’s now a far more evolved part of the modern DJ ecosystem.
Most of the new features in version 7 are in line with the management of your music library and finding both new and old tracks to play in your sets. In addition, the preferences menu now has a handy search function, allowing you to change those hard-to-reach settings in seconds.
In addition, version 7 is over 50% faster and more CPU-friendly than the previous version. This makes it possible for users on older laptops to still enjoy the new features with great performance.
What’s more, subscribers and hardware unlock users can now access a new dual-player view in export mode. Here, you’ll find features like beat jump, auto gain, and 3-band EQ kill switches.
As an owner of compatible AlphaTheta hardware, you no longer need to be plugged in while using rekordbox. Now, you can simply link your profile with your registered hardware to access the additional features.

There is also a new collaborative playlist function that allows up to five DJs to collaborate on building playlists for the next gig. Of course, there is no music sharing, but users of the same streaming platforms can build and share playlists for future use.
Overall, it seems like the software is moving in the right direction. However, many users are still awaiting more extensive stem separation functionality.
