AKAI Force G2 Leak
AKAI’s Force was released way back in 2019. After a gazillion MPC variants, including the MPC XL, which borrows from the Force’s clip-launching workflow, we appear to be sitting on the precipice of a forceful follow-up.
A video posted to Reddit shows what appears to be the AKAI Force G2. AKAI’s not going to be happy with this guy, that’s for sure. The video only shows the box, not the unit itself, but we can see that this new Force G2 is very, well, Forcey, with a seemingly unchanged control layout. It also appears to be silver now.
AKAI have been giving their MPC line a glow-up recently, with both MPC One and MPC Key 37 getting G2 versions. These aren’t drastically different from their originals, just with more storage, better performance and USB-C. All signs point to Force G2 getting a similar upgrade.
New Force, Who Dis?
Nothing is confirmed. Of course, it’s just this guy’s word, but according to the video, the new Force is coming out in January 2027. That would put it around the same time as NAMM, which makes sense.
AKAI recently stated that they’re introducing 22 new products at NAMM, along with The Creator Lab, “a new environment for creators, developers, product modders and vibe-coders interested in exploring how compatible instruments can be personalized and extended.” This would fit in with the recent announcements about MPC Sample and Sample Key being moddable. Will the Force G2 also allow you to make your own instruments and effects for it?
Exciting stuff. We’ll be covering NAMM as always, so watch this space for the latest.
