Guitar Journal: Boss Katana 10th Anniversary
Wren and Cuff 'mini' Muffs and Castle Rat's Riley Pinkerton get new signature model!
This week, we are checking out the new Boss Katana limited-run amps and a matching cab; these blue flame maple models celebrate 10 years of the amp series. Next, we take a look at the new Wren and Cuff XTS Series, which includes two mini versions of their Russian Muff circuits. Finally, we look at the highly limited run Riley Pinkerton signature model for the Castle Rat frontwoman by Dunable Guitars.

Katana’s 10th Anniversary
Boss just announced a highly limited run of Katana 10th-anniversary models. They come in blue flame maple veneer cabinets and are available only at Roland stores in New York, London, and Tokyo.
Apparently, Boss has sold over 1.5 million Katana amplifiers, which is pretty impressive.

Katana Artist
The two amp models include the Katana Artist Gen 3 Head and Combo, plus a matching Katana 212 Waza Cabinet. These are already popular models in the Boss Katana line, so if you like these limited-run models, you’ll need to visit a flagship Roland store to get one; as far as I can tell, they’re in-store only. Maybe one for collectors?
Also available in Black…
Of course, you can still have a lot of fun with the regular plain black versions, since they are feature-packed.
Wren and Cuff XTS Series
Wren and Cuff make some of my favourite pedals, and they have just announced the new XTS Series, which are super compact versions of two of their popular models.
These new models are the XTS Tall Font Russian and the XTS Fade Font ’94. Both are variations of the Russian Big Muff circuits. The latter is the 1994 Sovtek-era Big Muff, and the former is a lower-gain version based on the Tall Font Sovtek-era Muff.
Mini Muff?
You’ll need to be into Big Muff pedals from that era to appreciate these variations, but if you are a Big Muff geek like me, these new, smaller mini versions will be right up your street.

Boutique USA
Made in the USA, these feature a true hard-wire bypass, so expect top-notch quality from both versions. Priced at $149.99 each, they are perfect for Big Muff aficionados, who are running out of space on their pedalboards.
Riley Pinkerton’s “Summoner”
Castle Rat frontwoman Riley Pinkerton has a new Dunable Guitars model named the “Summoner,” based on their Minotaur model, but they are only building four guitars!
It is a single-pickup model fitted with a Dunable Direwolf bridge pickup, and it comes in a White/Gold Colorshift finish with a custom gold crackle over a golden holofoil pickguard.
The main body is mahogany, with a matching 24.75-inch scale mahogany neck and an ebony fretboard with 22 jumbo stainless steel frets.

Castle Rat
This new model is very Castle Rat in style, but I’m so used to seeing Pinkerton wielding her usual white Gibson SG that it will take me a while to get used to seeing her playing this one.
Simple Controls
This simple, single-pickup model has one volume knob and a pickup selector that works as an on/off killswitch.
Hopefully, someone can convince them to make more than just four guitars, as they look great and very much suit Castle Rat’s aesthetic. They aren’t cheap, at around $3600 each! However, these are pretty much custom-built models and still way cheaper than, say, a Gibson Custom Shop model for example.
Great to see Dunable Guitars making more interesting instruments and working with more interesting musicians.
