Birds of a Feather
At the heart of this release lies a striking fretboard design. Conceived ten years ago by Paul Miles, Director of Manufacturing and Head of Private Stock, the “Birds of a Feather” motif offers a fresh take on PRS’s classic signature bird inlays. Flowing seamlessly across the fretboard, contrasting ebony and figured maple create a dynamic, continuous flock rising toward the headstock.
It looks pretty impressive, and now it is available outside Private Stock, just for a very limited time, as there will only be 360 Custom 24 Birds of a Feather guitars built.
Custom 24
The Custom 24 is a flagship model from Paul Reed Smith, and it comes with all the great hardware and pickups you would expect. These ‘Birds’ aren’t just for show; they have the playability and tones you want from a high-end guitar.
Underneath its collector-grade aesthetic, the instrument retains the core DNA that established the Custom 24 as an industry workhorse in 1985. The foundation begins with an Artist Grade figured maple top paired with a solid mahogany back, all wrapped in a high-gloss nitrocellulose finish.
For effortless playability, it features a 25” scale length, 24 frets, a 10” radius, and a lightning-fast Pattern Thin mahogany neck profile.
DMO
The tonal core is powered by a pair of PRS DMO (Dynamic, Musical, Open) humbuckers, engineered specifically to deliver exceptional clarity, vocal articulation, and dynamic touch sensitivity.
A versatile 5-way pickup switch provides full humbucking warmth alongside glassier, single-coil-inspired textures across five positions. These guitars are versatile, and if you have ever played a Custom 24, you know they can cover a lot of ground.
Hardware consists of the reliable PRS Patented Gen III Tremolo paired with lightweight Phase III locking tuners featuring wing buttons. These models all ship in a PRS Black Paisley hardcase.
Price & Availability
The PRS Custom 24 Birds of a Feather is a limited run, and you can order it in all three colours from Thomann: Charcoal Microburst, Honey Gold, and Blood Red.
They are priced at $7699/£6899/€7999 each, which, for this level of craftsmanship, is very reasonable. If you were to go to Private Stock, then you would be paying a lot more.
