Eventide H9 Gen2 Leak: Is This The New Benchmark for Multi-Effects?
What's new compared to the first generation?
Well, look what we’ve got here! It seems the new Eventide H9 Gen2 accidentally leaked! As Sound on Sound and SynthAnatomy are reporting, it looks like a new generation of one of the best multi-effects pedals on the market is about to be released. Let’s take a closer look at that right now! What’s new compared to the predecessor?
What Do We Know About the Eventide H9 Gen2 From the Leak?
Let’s start with the obvious: The Eventide H9 G2 appears to have undergone a complete redesign of its interface. And that’s a good thing. Anyone who has spent any time with the previous model will remember how good it sounds. And just how awkward it was, having to use the companion app for many of the settings. That seems to have changed.

A new LED screen, three so-called Quick Knobs plus a navigation knob, four buttons: the multi-effects pedal appears to be a whole lot more accessible. After all, even the H9 and its big brother, the H90, came with effect algorithms that sound far superior and exotic to most other multi-effects on the market. But adjusting them on the H9 wasn’t exactly easy. That’s changed with the Eventide H9 Gen2.
What New Algorithms Does the Eventide H9 Gen2 Come With?
One major new feature of the Eventide H9 Gen2 is its CPU. While the old H9 was equipped with a single Freescale/NXP DSP chip, the new generation comes with a much more powerful ARM chip. In other words, it’s the exact same CPU found in the mighty H90, which has two of them.
This will likely mean that the algorithm’s sound quality and complexity in the H9 Gen2 will match the H90’s. On top of that, the new model comes with exactly the same 74 algorithms as its big brother. In comparison, I assume that the more compact pedal can probably still only load one algorithm at a time, but having access to sonic worlds like Cosmic Web, Stutter, or VocalShift is really something.
The H9 Gen2 also features over 1,000 presets, so there should be something for just about every scenario.
Connectivity
The Eventide H9 Gen2 comes with a complete stereo signal flow, including inputs and outputs, plus a USB-C port. The settings also offer various routing options, such as pre- and post-effects, or the ability to split the signal into dry and wet for the outputs.
Overall, it seems the new update’s focus is on usability: make all settings right on the pedal, a better screen, and a more user-friendly design overall. That’s exciting!
How much does the Eventide H9 Gen9 cost?
The leak from Sound on Sound mentions a pre-order price of $599, starting June 24, 2026. We’re really excited!
Until then, there’s still the first-generation H9 Max and the powerful H90:
