Befaco Iroi: Oneiroi’s Better Half?
Multi-Effects Module with Oneiroi’s Unique Filter and Resonator

Befaco Iroi is a multi-effects module based on the fantastic Oneiroi synth voice released a couple of years ago. With a filter, resonator, delay, reverb, and plenty of modulation, Iroi puts a unique sound shaping toolkit at your fingertips.
Two years ago at Superbooth, Befaco launched Oneiroi, a fascinating Eurorack synth voice that’s all about ambient pads and drone-like textures. This year, they’ve cut it in half: Befaco Iroi is Oneiroi’s effects section minus the oscillator and looper, ready to mangle any external signal you throw at it.
The multi-mode filter can be placed at any position in the effects chain and offers low-pass, band-pass, high-pass and comb filter options. Quite conveniently, it’s paired with a digital VCA.
Next up is a 3-band resonator with dedicated Tune and Feedback controls. And as Iroi is all about creating unique kinds of ambience, you also get a 2-tap delay with adjustable time and density, as well as a reverb effect. The intriguingly labeled Spacetime knob is a macro that affects the size, filtering, and direction all at once.

The modulation section offers a choice of six LFO waveforms and an envelope follower, which you can flexibly map to various destinations. The same applies to four assignable CV inputs and the randomizer function.
The module offers a full stereo signal path and 24-bit/48-kHz AD/DA conversion with 32-bit internal signal processing.
Price and Availability
As per usual, Befaco Iroi is available as an assembled module and as a DIY kit. The assembled version is available at Thomann* for $254 / £228 / €259. You can get the DIY kit from Befaco for €210.
