Darkglass Ultimate
Neural DSP just dropped Darkglass Ultimate, a powerhouse revamp that transforms their signature bass grit into a fully loaded, studio-ready rig. If you are already a Darkglass Ultra user, you’re in luck because this is a completely free update.
What’s New?
This version takes the classic tones you know and surrounds them with a comprehensive signal chain and new creative tools, making it easy to evolve a simple riff into a polished, finished production without ever leaving the plugin.
B7K Ultra & Vintage Ultra
Darkglass Ultimate centers on the same two circuits that made the original plugin a staple: the B7K Ultra and the Vintage Ultra. The B7K delivers that signature aggressive, punchy drive with a tight low end, while the Vintage Ultra provides a smoother, tube-inspired warmth. Together, these circuits offer a pretty vast tonal range, engineered to sit perfectly in a professional mix right away.
For final tone shaping, the plugin features detailed cabinet simulations of the DG210C and DG810ES cabs, allowing you to move virtual microphones to find the perfect sweet spot for your recordings.
At the time of writing, they have a 50% discount on software on their main site, so you can knock the MSRP in half if you are purchasing now.
Available in 64-bit VST2, VST3, AU, AAX, and standalone formats for Windows and macOS.
Standard MSRP – €119
Wonderwall Epiphone EJ-200
Yes, Noel Gallagher’s signed Wonderwall Epiphone EJ-200 has just sold at auction for $96,000, which is an awful lot of money for an Epiphone acoustic guitar! It comes with a letter dated 3 August 1996, stating ‘guitar was used by Noel when he was writing songs for the album (What’s the Story Morning Glory.’
This is also one of the guitars that appeared in the video for Wonderwall. While the auction winner now owns a piece of visual history, the guitar actually used to record the track met a much grittier end.
’90s Oasis Guitar Destruction
During the volatile pre-breakup days of Oasis, a heated confrontation at Abbey Road saw a hungover Liam Gallagher turn an acoustic guitar into kindling. That specific instrument actually belonged to engineer Nick Brine, who watched in horror as Noel’s Fender Jaguar was also smashed during the same melee.
I guess the Gallagher brothers may have destroyed a few instruments back in those days, so the ones that have survived are coveted by Oasis fans.
AP1.6HPNG – Pink Neon Gloss!
Last week’s Guitar Journal featured a neon green Solar Guitar, and this week they have announced an AP1.6HPNG in Pink Neon Gloss!
Hot Pink Shred!
The Pink Neon Gloss Type AP1.6HPNG pairs a striking look with high-performance specs like an alder body and a snappy 25.5” scale maple neck. Ola Englund’s guitar company sticks to classic shred guitar formulas, and this one follows the recipe.
The Pink Pounder
Its fast-playing ebony fretboard holds 24 stainless steel frets and glow-in-the-dark side dots, while the sculpted cutaway ensures every note is easy to reach.
A pair of Duncan Solar pickups and a 5-way switch offer a massive tonal range, supported by a rock-solid Hipshot bridge and locking tuners. Finishing touches like the Black TUSQ nut and dual-action truss rod make this a reliable, road-ready machine.
Really, it should come with a pair of dark sunglasses to protect your eyes when you take it out. I’m wondering, since we have seen neon green and now pink, will we see neon yellow next?
