In case you hadn’t noticed, things are getting serious out there. That’s why it’s comforting to know that no matter the situation, the party can keep going. I’ve talked about what you need to be a mobile DJ before. With so many aspects of DJing and parties now battery-powered, the rave doesn’t have to stop – even when you think your heart might from all the anxiety and stress of living in the 21st century.
Soundboks, whose Lighboks are an amazing way to get lit, is back with a new battery-powered speaker that’s designed to keep on keeping on no matter the weather. Called Mix, the speaker is the younger brother of the popular 4. More portable yet almost as powerful. That’s the Mix.
Soundboks Mix: Weather the Storm
Mix is, in the words of Soundboks, a Bluetooth party speaker that amplifies everyday moments. With its all-weather design, it’s splash-proof and weather-resistant. There’s a promotional photo that shows it on its side on the floor, with a table knocked over and drink stains on the ground. “Good thing the Soundboks Mix is nearly indestructible,” the copy says. You always hope that your party won’t end up in chaos, but if it does, it’s good to know that Mix will make it out the other side.
And, as it features Bluetooth, you can connect up to five Mix speakers wirelessly. There’s also an app (called the App – imagine that) for setting EQ profiles, upgrading firmware, and locking down the speaker for security.
It’s Party Time
Let’s check the Mix specs. Mix offers 121dB at maximum volume, a stat that’s only five decibels lower than the Soundboks 4. Not bad. It’s got a single 10-inch woofer, a 1.2-inch tweeter, and a frequency range of 40Hz to 20kHz.
Along with power, it’s got The Battery. The Battery is Soundboks’ proprietary battery pack, and will run at a whopping eight hours at maximum volume or 40 hours at mid volume. You can also swap the battery out if you’re planning on going for the record.
Portable Power
Soundboks is also touting the portability of Mix, citing its 21.4-pound weight. It includes a built-in carrying handle and is compatible with the company’s Strap 2.0 and Backpack, the latter two of which are sold separately.
