Gibson Original Collection: Reworked Classics in Stunning Sunburst
The Gibson Original Collection nods to the marque celebrating 100 years of flat-top acoustic guitars. These classics feature vintage flair with contemporary attributes.
Gibson Original Collection:
Gibson J-160E Original
First up, we’ve got the tempting J-160E Original. Back in 1954, this was one of the first guitars to feature any sort of electrification and was favoured by early bands such as The Beatles.
This 2026 example features scalloped X-bracing with a solid Sitka spruce top, allowing for all of the acoustic resonance that you’d expect. Moreover, we’ve got a slim taper neck for comfortable chord shapes and the iconic trapezoid inlays. Further visuals include the gold top-hat pots for a bit more of the wow factor.

Amplification is dealt with via a single P-90 DC pickup. Delivering classic tones without any unwanted hum, helping this Gibson Original Collection piece to be a reliable gigging machine.
Gibson SJ-200 60s Original
Next up, a somewhat lighter sunburst finish with this SJ-200 60s model. Arguably, this style of flat-top was adopted by some of the best in the business. Players such as Jimmy Page and Bob Dylan loved the late 1930s design and character.
Modernised yet again, we’ve got a wonderful AAA maple body, again with that same Sitka spruce top. Naturally, we have an authentic 1960s finish along with a rimless pickguard. Something that brings this Gibson Original Collection guitar upto date is the integrated LR Baggs VTC pickup system. Tried and tested by performers all over the world.

Gibson LG-2 50s Original
Concluding our look at these centenary models, we have the Gibson LG-2 50s Original. Rounding off the collection, this was originally introduced in the middle of the Second World War, and became a sense of musical safety and popularity for many.
This new model offers the craftsmanship and attention to detail that you’d hope to expect. Visuals such as the rounded neck and rosewood fingerboard just resonate with charm and nostalgia. Plus, we once again have the scalloped X-bracing that we’ve come to expect with the solid sitka spruce top.

Contrasting with the vintage attributes is another LR Baggs VTC pickup system. What I like about this model in particular is that it is avaliable in Vintage Sunburst and an Antique Natural finish.
Pricing and Availability
None of these new/old Gibson Original Collection models are cheap. However, the price reflects the attention to detail and bespoke components. Visually, they all look fantastic and would look equally as good out on the road or in display cases.
Each of the guitars are currently listed over at *Thomann, and will be avaliable in a couple of weeks.
