Make Noise’s New Universal Synthesizer System has been one of the more interesting conceptual developments in Eurorack in recent years. The basic idea: Simple, monophonic control inputs are used to create multi-layered modulation signals and polyphonic patches, whose voices and elements are musically interconnected in various interesting ways. Over the past few years, the manufacturer has consistently expanded the system with modules such as PoliMATHS, QXG, MultiMOD, and, most recently, MultiWAVE.
The next logical step was to create a complete system based on the core principles of the New Universal Synthesizer System. Freshly unveiled at Buchla & Friends 2026, the Make Noise NUSS (New Universal Skiff System) offers plenty of opportunities for creative polyphonic patching in a compact, portable format.
The system is designed to be controlled from a 0-Ctrl or another single-channel sequencer. The NUSS modules take this signal and turn it into an array of multi-layered modulation signals and polyphonic voices.
The system consists of one MultiWAVE oscillator, one PoliMATHS, one MultiMOD, two QXG, and one QPAS. The XOH output module is also included, offering a 2-channel mixer, a stereo line output, and a headphone output. In addition, the system is equipped with a USB-C input for controlling MultiWAVE via MIDI or MPE.
The modules are housed in the new Make Noise 2 Zone Skiff Case, which is also available separately. The 104 HP case is made of power-coated aluminum and equipped with a 2-zone power supply (2 A @ +12 V, 1.2 A @ -12 V, 1 A @ +5 V). It comes with a universal AC adapter and a power switch.
