Abasi Stage 7: Tosin Abasi Reinvents the Nylon-String
Stage 7 with custom Fishman-developed pickup system

Abasi Concepts has partnered with Córdoba to release the Abasi Stage 7. This 7-string nylon-string electric guitar is designed with Tosin Abasi specifically for the stage and studio.
Abasi Stage 7
The Abasi Stage 7 is the result of three years of development, designed for electric guitarists who desire the organic warmth of nylon strings without the bulky dimensions or playability hurdles of a traditional classical guitar.
Chambered Larada
Built on Abasi’s signature Larada ergonomic platform, the guitar features a thin, extensively chambered mahogany body paired with a solid spruce top. I really like the design applied to this nylon guitar; it works really well, with a great-looking flow to the lines.
This design apparently allows for high-volume performance with minimal feedback while maintaining a resonant, rich low-end response.
Technical Innovation and Ergonomics
This nylon-strung 7-string is a multiscale (fanned fret) design with 24 frets, providing piano-like clarity on the low B string while maintaining expressive tension on the high E.
Unlike traditional classical guitars, the Stage 7 features a narrower string spacing and a compound radius rosewood fretboard, allowing electric players to transition to nylon strings without adjusting their fundamental hand mechanics.
Again, these are all design elements that I think are brilliant, as I love the tone of nylon-strung guitars, but I find them a little cumbersome when compared to my usual guitars.
Natural Tone
To solve the common “quack” often associated with amplified nylon strings, the Stage 7 is equipped with a custom Fishman-developed pickup system.
This setup combines an under-saddle transducer with internal body sensors. Players can shape their sound via side-mounted controls for Volume, EQ, and a “Body Blend” knob, which dials in the natural resonance of the chambered body for a more authentic acoustic feel.
Premium Aesthetics
The guitar reflects a “meeting of the minds” between the two brands, featuring inlaid Córdoba and Abasi logos on the headstock and an oval sound hole positioned on the side of the body.
Available in three distinct finishes: Ziricote, Acacia, and Whiteburst, the Stage 7 is intended for a new generation of “forward-thinking” players.
Pre-order & Pricing
The Abasi Stage 7 is currently available for pre-order at a retail price of $1,499.
Verdict
Yes, I really like it, and I would happily want to experiment with one in the studio. This design and the sound of Stage 7 in the official demo video really appeal to me. Nice one, Tosin! (feel free to send me one, hint, hint)
