The GC Audio Total Recall Producer Channel is a complete signal processor for recording and mixing with an intuitive digital recall system.
The French high-end audio manufacturer GC Audio has dug deep with this design on all accounts. The new producer channel combines a preamp, EQ, compressor, de-esser, and tube harmonics stage, with a bi-directional plugin-controlled recall system.
GC Audio Total Recall Producer Channel
The Producer Channel starts with a Class A low-noise transistor-based mic preamp with a Lundahl transformer. All the usual features are present, including DI input, phantom power, polarity switch, pad, and a 120 Hz high-pass filter. Next in the chain is a 4-band parametric EQ with a design inspired by Opto control for musical character.
Each band provides variable gain, frequency, and Q-factor, which makes the EQ useful for a wide range of different sound sources. Meanwhile, the dynamics section is comprised of a fully-featured VCA compressor with an independent de-esser circuit that is ideal for shaping vocals or tricky elements like drum overhead mics.
Finally, the analogue side is completed with the high-voltage tube gain stage that allows you to dial in warmth and saturation as you require. For added flexibility, each processing stage can be bypassed, so you can target the signal precisely when tracking or mixing. For digital recall, you can access this function instantly from the front panel or from the plugin for macOS and Windows.
This allows you to store and load up your favourite settings and use them across any session. With bi-directional control, it also makes automation possible, so you can push and shape elements differently for greater impact in the verses and choruses of a song. Overall, the Producer Channel packs plenty of punch in terms of processing and modern functionality.
