IKEA KULGLASS and SOLSKYDD: Exciting Speaker-lamp Designs
Created with designer Tekla Evelina Severin (Teklan), the IKEA KULGLASS and SOLSKYDD are new additions to IKEA’s family of speaker-lamps.
With this new line of lifestyle speaker-lamps, IKEA and Swedish designer, Teklan, have collaborated to create some truly unique additions for your home. By combining function and fashion, these retro-inspired designs are the perfect way to complete any room.
IKEA KULGLASS and SOLSKYDD
Included in the range are the KULGLASS speaker-lamps, with their distinctive soft-serve ice cream cone inspired designs. Created to be different, the KULGLASS range contrasts completely when compared to the sometimes clinical design approach of electronic devices we find around the house, and the designer, Teklan, was very particular about her colour choices.
In addition, the SOLSKYDD range is a selection of three circular wall-mountable speaker systems, two of which are also free-standing. Created with eye-catching patterns, these speakers are meant to liven up your space in more ways than one, each providing Bluetooth connectivity and multispeaker functionality.
The largest of the SOLSKYDD speakers has a textured terracotta panel and is designed to pair with your flatscreen TV, adding an unexpected shape to your setup. However, because it’s wall-mounted, it is still relatively inobtrusive compared to a pair of monolithic floor-standing hi-fi speakers.
Overall, the KULGLASS and SOLSKYDD offer some unconventional aesthetics that bring a quirky sensibility into your living room, bedroom, or study. What’s more, they are reasonably priced, so you can put them in every room if you so desire.
Pricing and Availability:
The IKEA KULGLASS and SOLSKYDD will be available from your favourite retailer this December, and from 1 January 2026 in the US, with prices ranging from $79.99 to $139.99.
Home electronics are often seen as purely functional, something many people want to hide. We want to change that. In recent years, we’ve learned a lot about developing high-quality sound products and how people want to furnish their homes with them. We’re treating speakers with the same care as the rest of the home, so they contribute to a room’s atmosphere and personality not only through sound but also through form, colour, and character.
