There once was a time when mesh head kits came with a premium price tag, which meant many of us had to continue suffering rubber pads, aching wrists and a distinct lack of nuance in our performances. Now, mesh head kits are affordable, and none more so than the new MPS-350 kit from Millenium.
The Millenium MPS-350
Whilst the price is small, the kit itself is well-specified, containing, as it does, five drum pads and three cymbal pads. These are all mounted on a four-legged, double-braced tubular frame and a sturdy double-legged kick drum stand.
The Pads
The dual zone snare pad is 8″ in diameter with a separate rimshot zone, whilst the three toms are all 7″ affairs. Both the crash and ride cymbals are dual zone (bell and bow) with choke functionality. The hi-hat pad comes with a foot controller as standard.
The kick drum is 8″ and capable of accommodating a double kick pedal arrangement and comes with a single kick drum pedal out of the box. The kick drum stand is a solid affair with it’s own two legs to keep it firmly planted in position.
The Drum Module
The sound module contains 25 preset drum kits with 500 different drum and percussion sounds to choose from. There are 35 play-along songs for practising as well as an AUX In so that you can play along with your favourite tunes!
Connectivity is kept simple, with an additional Crash 2 trigger input, USB for MIDI, a single stereo audio output and a 3.5mm headphone socket for private listening. You can also hook it up over Bluetooth. The module features a five channel mixer for easy balancing of your sounds.
